Your first call, item by item
Utility identified
Who supplies your power and gas. That answer sets which programs open up.
Program checklist
What the rebate needs. What the loan needs. Which comes first.
Assessment status
Has the no-cost Home Energy Assessment happened yet? If not, we explain booking it.
Old boiler plan
Out entirely, disconnected, or kept as backup on integrated controls. Your pick, with the trade-offs.
Next date set
A home visit to measure, or the assessment first. You leave the call knowing which.
Five Services, One Coordinated File
Every project here runs off a single file: equipment, rebate, loan, old system. Pick the service that matches your starting point. We connect the rest.
Heat Pump Installation
Cold-climate units, ducted or ductless, picked after we tally what every room leaks on a frigid night. Commissioned, tested and explained before the van leaves.
Mass Save Rebate Help
Eligibility checked, the assessment sequenced, equipment pulled from the qualifying list. Whole-home conversions that meet the program terms may collect up to $8,500 this program year; conditions apply.
0% HEAT Loan Financing
Mass Save's HEAT Loan: borrow up to $25,000 at 0% through a lender signed onto the program. We line up the proposal, the authorization paperwork and the inspection.
Ductless Mini-Splits
Wall, floor or ceiling heads where ducts never ran. Good for Victorians, top-floor apartments and the cold room over the garage.
Oil & Gas Heating Replacement
That aging cellar unit, whatever it burns, is hauled off, capped, or kept idling as a controlled fallback. Decided once, done once.
Six Steps, Tracked Start to Finish
Opening call
House age, current fuel, utility, problem rooms. What you want changed. Facts first, no pitch.
Eligibility review
We check rebate and HEAT Loan requirements against your house. If the Home Energy Assessment is still needed, we tell you how to get it scheduled.
Measuring visit
Every room measured. Insulation, windows and the existing boiler noted. Heat loss calculated from that, not from the old nameplate.
Written numbers
Equipment, price, rebate estimate with its conditions and loan amount, all on one proposal. Then the loan application with an enrolled lender, if you are borrowing.
Install day
Outdoor unit, indoor units, line sets and controls go in. The outgoing system leaves, gets capped, or is tied into integrated controls. Exactly per the plan.
Startup and filing
System tested. Controls walked through. Rebate and loan documents completed and sent off. File closed.
Why the Changeover Happens Only Once
A boiler replacement done in a hurry often gets done twice: once badly, then again properly. These are the habits that keep yours to a single round.
Tidy from driveway to cellar
Drop cloths down, line sets routed neatly along the outside, holes sealed. The walkthrough at the end covers every room we touched.
Built for the coldest night
Equipment picked from models listed for low-temperature output, then sized so it carries the house through a January freeze.
Backup heat set up by the rules
Boiler leaving? Pulled or capped. Boiler staying? Integrated controls keep it idle until the thermometer outside truly plunges.
Seven years installing heat pumps
Seven years in business means plenty of Victorians, colonials and two-families converted, and a clear sense of what goes wrong when steps get skipped.
10-year workmanship warranty
Every install we do comes with a 10-year workmanship warranty. The terms sit in your contract file.
Melrose and the Towns Next Door
Melrose is full of houses that make heat pump planning interesting: Victorians with tall ceilings and big windows, colonials near Ell Pond, two-families close to the Wyoming Hill and Highlands stations, and plenty of boilers that date back decades. We cover all of it, plus the towns that ring the city, from Malden and Medford to Stoneham, Wakefield and Saugus. Each town gets the same file, the same order of steps and the same written numbers.
Tall ceilings, big rooms
Victorian parlors lose heat in their own way. Each one is measured on its own so the head or register serving it is not undersized. Bay windows and pocket doors get noted too, since both change how warm air moves through a room.
Steep lots, short setbacks
Some Melrose lots sit on steep grades, especially near the Fells. Outdoor units get pads and placement that handle drainage and snow.
Light plant towns flagged
Wakefield and Lynnfield buy power from municipal light plants. Those plants set their own heat pump rebates in place of Mass Save electric ones. Your utility gets confirmed before any numbers come up.

Rebate estimate. Loan amount. What you would actually pay. One conversation starts that picture, and the proposal puts it in writing before anything is removed. If the numbers do not work for your house, you will know before a single pipe is cut.

Melrose Homeowners Ask, We Answer
Short, direct answers. Program facts with their conditions attached.
What coverage comes with the installation?
Two layers. The equipment carries its manufacturer's coverage, registered after the install. Our own installation coverage is spelled out in your proposal, so you know the terms before you sign.
I own a rental. Can I use these programs for my units?
Often, yes. Owners of two- to four-family buildings regularly tap Mass Save rebates and HEAT Loan borrowing. The rules weigh each apartment's utility account, who occupies it and how the building is heated, so we review your property on the call before anyone promises anything.
How much is the Mass Save heat pump rebate right now?
This program year, a whole-home air-source conversion that meets the terms may collect up to $8,500, figured per ton of capacity. Three conditions come with it: weatherization finished per the Home Energy Assessment, equipment from the cold-climate list, and a household in residence straight through the cold months. Partial-home projects collect less, and your estimate is written into the proposal with each condition beside it.
Is the Home Energy Assessment required before I get a heat pump?
For whole-home rebates and whole-home HEAT Loan jobs, yes. Mass Save charges homeowners nothing for that visit. Its report spells out attic and wall upgrades, and those upgrades bring sizable incentives too. The first call settles whether your project needs one.
Is there a national incentive on top of Mass Save?
Not for heat pumps installed in 2026. Our proposals lean on what Massachusetts runs this year: Mass Save rebates plus HEAT Loan borrowing at 0%. If that changes, the proposal will say so.
Will the heat pump cool the house too?
Yes. In July the heat pump simply moves heat out of the house instead of in, so window units can retire. Ductless heads cool room by room, and ducted setups push cool air through the registers. One machine, both seasons.
Is insulation work a prerequisite for the rebate?
On the whole-home path, yes: weatherization recommended by the Home Energy Assessment comes first. Typically that is attic insulation and sealing air leaks, both carrying generous incentives. Partial-home projects play by other rules, and we tell you which set covers your house.
Calm Coordination, Start to Finish
HVAC Financing Melrose keeps one file per house. Equipment, rebate, loan and old system, all tracked together. You get the facts in plain terms, the paperwork handled, and a changeover that does not need redoing. Questions get answered in the order they matter. The file stays open until every form is accepted, and you always know which step comes next and who is handling it.
